"Madam President, as the grandson of a Polish Jew who fled his home town of Oświęcim, latterly infamously known as Auschwitz, at the beginning of the last century, I say that the time has come to face up to the reality of anti-Semitism today. With Western European Jews being shot in schools, museums and places of worship, we need to be honest with ourselves about the root cause of this cancer. Since the despicable murders in Paris, attacks on British Jews have risen threefold. Political correctness and multiculturalism have failed. With thousands of Jews now fleeing Europe, what does this say for our liberal and tolerant values? They said 75 years ago that enough is enough. I am now saying that it is unacceptable that synagogues are increasingly looking like Fort Knox. As Edmund Burke once wrote, ‘For evil to happen, good men must do nothing.’ Enough is enough."@en1
