"I continue to support setting a date for EU accession talks to begin. I am, however, concerned about the impact which the current political crisis in the country is having on the prospects for realising that aim. I welcome the report's call for an independent investigation into all allegations and unauthorised surveillance, with full respect for the principles of transparency, impartiality and presumption of innocence. All political actors should engage in constructive dialogue. I continue to strongly support the aspirations of the Western Balkan countries to engage in European reforms and to become EU members themselves. The process of integration will strengthen the democratic institutions of these countries, modernise their economies and thus improve the lives of citizens. Labour Party Members and the S&D Group will be sure to keep enlargement high on the EU’s political agenda."@en1
