"Mr President, I have watched with interest this debate, and I see a lot of the Members of the British Labour Party here absolutely loving it – with big beaming smiles on their faces. And why wouldn’t they have? Because they can see, all through, infecting this room, the same thought process of ‘the answer to everything is big state, more taxes, more interference’. The same kind of thing that they ruined the UK with, they can now see the EU doing across the whole area – with every speech, a state growing larger and larger, and no real answers. Well, here is an answer: youth unemployment. It is a serious issue. What we need to be doing is to make sure we have sensible, controlled immigration into countries so that people can get a foot on the employment ladder. We also need to make sure that we do not constantly spend billions of pounds or euros on saddling future generations with debt that they will never pay off, just because people like the idea of the state controlling everything. It is time to throw away the ideas of the past."@en1
