"Mr President, my constituency of the West Midlands is currently missing out on GBP 718 million of EU funding, entirely due to the incompetence and arrogance of the Conservative Government of the UK. Every other Member State has been able to agree its operational programmes with the Commission. The Tory Government of the UK cannot because they insist that they want to give the money to local enterprise partnerships which, unelected and unaccountable as they are, the Commission is unsurprisingly not happy with as channels for public funds. In the West Midlands we are talking about GBP 140 million for the Black Country, GBP 107 million for Coventry and Warwickshire, GBP 201 million for greater Birmingham and Solihull, GBP 127 million for Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, GBP 90 million for The Marches and GBP 54 million for Worcestershire. We are not getting it because of the Tory Government."@en1
