"Madam President, contrary to the last speaker, I was very pleased to support this motion and vote for my Group accordingly. I think it is a landmark day, and it is significant that we had the President and the former President here to witness our democratic decisions.
The vast majority of Members voted in favour of this. Of course, there are those who disagree, and they are entitled to their opinions, but democracy is based on the majority. I also think that Georgia wants to express its democratic right to look to the West rather than be strangled by the East for evermore. Giving them consideration here, at European Parliament level, is an indication of our willingness and desire to ensure that all peoples are free, that all governments can make choices of their own, and fundamentally that we are going to support that around the world. This is a good day for Georgia and a good day for the European Union."@en1
