"Today I welcomed the mobilisation of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund in favour of France to support the reintegration in the labour market of workers made redundant.
According to data referred to by the French authorities, international air transport has undergone serious economic disruption, in particular a decline of the EU’s market share. Over the period 2008-2012, global traffic increased by 4.6% per year, as part of a trend of long-term growth observed since 1970. However the air traffic between Europe and the rest of the world is growing at a slower pace (2.4%) which has led to a decrease of the EU-27’s market share in air transport.
The coordinated package of personalised services, to be co-funded with the EUR 25 937 813 in EGF aid, includes training and guidance measures for the reintegration of 3 886 redundant workers into employment.
The UK has never made an application under this fund. UK workers therefore receive none of this support."@en1
