"Unlocking the benefits of the digital world is key to delivering competitiveness, jobs and growth. The EU needs to work with partners across the world and avoid a fortress Europe approach. It is extremely important that we have an open, accessible and safe internet. Against this backdrop, anti-competitive behaviour is not acceptable and as in all sectors, dominant players should not abuse their market position to the detriment of others. However, the ECR group position is that anti-trust investigations must remain independent, and it is not for the European Parliament to interfere or prejudge the legal process of any investigation. This is a competition law issue and the EU commissioner for Competition must be allowed to follow the correct legal processes. This resolution should not be read as an instruction to the competition Commissioner on what action to take on her current investigation. The ECR amendments focus on the benefits of e-commerce for growth and competitiveness and on the real actions we can take to tear down the barriers our digital entrepreneurs face, so that the single market is fit for the digital age."@en1
