"As a co-signatory of this resolution, I fully supported todayʼs vote which raises concerns about the delays in starting up the next round of cohesion policy. Significant delays in agreeing operational programmes will cause problems for national, regional and local authorities across the EU. I am particularly concerned about the effect this will have on English regions and their ability to get projects up and running. I wholeheartedly agree that both the Commission and the Member States should work together to speed up the process of agreeing the operational programmes and that the Commission in particular should put forward solutions to limit damage caused by late implementation. I am concerned by the budgetary impact that these delays will cause, but above all, I am extremely worried about the impact the late approval of operational programmes will have on English regions and the ability to deliver EU-funded projects within an acceptable timeframe."@en1
