It is good that the Bank has more powers, but also more responsibilities. This revised mechanism should help ensure that we learn from the mistakes that were made at the time of the recession. But in relation to Ireland, we are having a banking inquiry at central level shortly, and it has been requested that the European Central Bank cooperate in that inquiry.
