"Mr President, we have already got anti-discrimination laws in the UK, and meddling bureaucrats in Brussels complicating our laws without any accountability do not help the situation. Of course, there should be no discrimination against people in the workplace: full stop. It is already illegal in the UK, obviously. We are all human beings and should have the same rights and protection. Employment should be solely based on merit, skills and enthusiasm that individuals have for a particular job – which brings me to the other side of the debate, which is positive discrimination.
It is the EU that promotes discrimination, with all its targets and quotas for employment. The EU wants the employer to choose the person with arbitrary characteristics that could be something like gender or ethnic origin. So before you can all take the moral high ground and sit there and say everything is perfect about the EU, you really need to get your own house in order; and you do not fight discrimination with more discrimination ..."@en1
