The primary objective in establishing the EU was to end all wars within our borders and to find ways and means to live together. There is still a lot of work to be done for the peace process in Northern Ireland and the EU has acted as an honest broker in that process, particularly through funding of peace building programmes. I am glad the resolution achieved overwhelming support within the House and that the European Parliament stands ready to help if needed."@en1
