"Madam President, I would like to thank the President of the Court of Auditors. I am sure that most colleagues in the room would welcome the fact that the Court has once again said that revenue and commitments were legal and regular. However, of course, a lot still needs to be done on payments. A 4.7% error rate is far too high. But I would emphasise – unlike other colleagues – that we are talking about errors and not fraud. We also know that most of the errors take place at Member State level. This is borne out by the figures which show that the percentage of errors in shared management projects is much higher than the directly managed programmes. So we do need to do much more work with Member States, particularly those Member States who, year on year, are problematic. I would welcome any ideas the new Commissioner has on this. How can we help Member States to reduce their error rate? Like others, I also wanted to comment on the issue of performance …"@en1
