lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, carbon capture and storage (CCS) can reduce the amount of CO in the atmosphere, thereby tackling climate change. CCS provides a medium-term future for gas and coal in Europe. CCS can capture carbon emissions from the production of steel, cement and fertiliser. CCS can provide jobs thereby pumping money into the European economy while at the same time pumping CO under the ground into safe storage. In this way we can buy the time we need to transition to renewable energy. I therefore strongly call on the Council meeting this week to make carbon capture and storage a vital, intrinsic and viable component of our new EU 2030 climate and energy action framework.
