"The European Parliament is taking completely the wrong position on this matter. It should be safeguarding public money, and trying to provide value for money for citizens. Instead, it is empire-building. It is trying to carve out as much money as possible for the EU to spend, usually on projects which fail to respect the subsidiarity principle. It is supporting the Gentleman’s Agreement between Council, Commission and Parliament which keeps costs high and transparency low. For these reasons I could not vote in favour of such a report."@en1
