"I support the need to have a European instrument to assist redundant workers. I am glad that Parliament fully supported the setting up of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) as part of the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014 to 2020. I supported this application for Comunidad Valenciana metal workers following 633 redundancies in 142 enterprises in the fabricated metal products industry. Assistance to this region is essential, particularly given the fact that in the period 2008-2009 industrial production in Spain declined by almost five points more than in the EU-28 and has yet to recover and still faces continuing decline. I would also like to congratulate the Spanish authorities for their support for the workers in their decision to begin the early implementation of personalised services to those made redundant."@en1
