"Mr President, we do not just need more jobs, we need better jobs. Of course there is a jobs crisis in the EU, but there is also a skills crisis and a quality crisis. What there is not is a flexibility crisis or a price crisis. The sector of the economy with the worst unemployment is precisely the sector with the highest so-called flexibility and the worst conditions – the sector of zero hours contracts, of bogus self-employment and of perpetual part-time temporary agency contracts. So if these mechanisms are – as we are asked to believe – a necessary tool for employers to get people into the labour market and keep people in the labour market, then they do not work. In which case, can I ask the Commission why none of these issues are in the country-specific recommendations?"@en1
