The use of the EGF as a remedy for long-term structural imbalances is both unnecessary and ineffective. The EGF is too often being used to supplement the income support already provided by national governments, and I do not believe this to be an appropriate use of EU resources. There is very little evidence that the EGF even helps those workers for whom it was designed, and its implementation is a hindrance to the natural functioning of the single market."@en1
