lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I support the measures as outlined by the Commissioner and also, of course, the sanctions. The problem with sanctions is that they can be disproportionate and can affect some Member States more than others, particularly different sections of society such as agriculture. I would ask the Commission to look beyond sanctions, particularly at major events like conferences, World Cups etc. fixed for Russia, and set a date by which, if we do not have a resolution to these problems, they should be moved out of Russia. In that way only Russia would suffer. There would be no need for boycotts – because if we continue like this there will calls for boycotts – and I think a firm message would be given to Russia that there are other ways than sanctions to make them hurt, to bring them to the table and to ensure that international law is observed. I would ask the Commissioners would they consider bringing that to discussions. I think it would perhaps be more effective than sanctions in the long term."@en1
