"Relations between the EU and Georgia started in 1992, with the former Soviet state playing an active role in the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership. A Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between the EU and Georgia came into force in 1999. A protocol to the PCA was signed last December, laying down financial and technical rules to enable Georgia to participate in certain Union programmes. The EU and Georgia completed the negotiation of an Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area element in July 2013 and initialled the agreement at the Vilnius Summit of November 2013. I look forward to both sides signing the final text in 2014, and therefore I voted in favour of the report."@en1
