"Mr President, huge thanks to our rapporteur, Mr Leichtfried; he has done a terrific job. We already comply with the ICAO balanced approach to aircraft noise and it is vitally important that we continue to do so. The way we can mitigate noise in the aircraft sector is by introducing and speeding up the Single European Sky and SESAR and, after all, we are world-leading manufacturers in aerospace – that is, engines – so we need to continue to encourage all of that.
We did have some concerns regarding the way this report was going and I am very pleased to say that all of these concerns have been addressed. Common sense has prevailed and subsidiarity has been respected, so the progress made during the negotiations has been considerable. As a result, we in the ECR are very happy to support this regulation. We would also like to thank our other colleagues, our other shadow rapporteurs, for their part in this. So thank you again, Mr Leichtfried."@en1
