"Madam President, I am very happy today that, thanks to the Liberal Democrats’ campaign, we voted to end roaming charges by December[nbsp ]2015. EU mobile roaming caps have saved consumers and businesses GBP[nbsp ]8[nbsp ]billion over the past five years. Ending costly roaming fees will give UK citizens travelling in the EU the freedom to use their phones just like they do at home, whether that is using maps, downloading apps or sharing photos. We have to remember that Brits make 24[nbsp ]million holiday visits each year to other EU countries. This is exactly the kind of issue that pits Liberal Democrats against UKIP and some Tory Eurosceptics, who have previously voted to increase your phone bills when you go abroad. We have shown again today that we are putting the interests of consumers and businesses first."@en1
