"Madam President, perhaps I will pick up where the last speaker left off in relation to the budget and agriculture. I think, sadly, throughout our discussions on the MFF we have been robbing Peter to pay Paul in the European Union budget because of the unwillingness of Member States – and indeed of taxpayers in those countries that are net contributors – to pay more. So we have to do more work with less money. On the issue of rural access to broadband, I think the point is well made. I am here to just raise it because, Commissioner, you said quite rightly that we have 100% broadband – at least a basic connection – and the trouble with that is, when you know others who have wonderful broadband connections, it is very disappointing and difficult from a business point of view. I live in County Meath, in Ireland, which is not remote, and yet in my office where I serve my constituents the broadband is terrible. So for people who live in much more remote regions they have greater problems. There are technical solutions and we need to hear more about them and they need to be affordable for people generally."@en1
