First and foremost, it is my belief that enhanced cross-border cooperation amongst aid organisations throughout EU Member States is vital to ensure an effective response and a targeted approach to aid efforts in disaster-stricken areas. With the number and scale of humanitarian crises across the globe increasing significantly, it is clear that an overarching initiative to aid relief can be useful in providing more meaningful relief on the ground. This can in part be achieved by the establishment of the European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps, with highly-trained specialist volunteers, to respond to the specific needs of those in distress across the globe."@en1
