"My question concerns challenging the figures on the cost of nuclear energy. I am not sure whether I need to address it to Ms Ford, or sort of indirectly to Mr Eickhout. Over the course of 35 years, the British subsidy for nuclear will amount to twice the subsidy for off-shore wind, despite the fact that off-shore wind is a very new technology and nuclear has been around for about 70 years and, according to the French Court of Auditors – who have reason to follow these things closely – has got increasingly expensive over that period. This is perhaps why the Commission, I understand, has some questions about state subsidy of nuclear as proposed by the British Government."@en1
