"The Conservative Delegation in the European Parliament believes in defending and promoting equality and rights for all, regardless of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation or disability. Discrimination and hate crimes in all forms should not be tolerated, and Conservatives have worked to guarantee equal rights for LGBTI people in all areas. However, we do not believe that social policy, particularly regarding education, healthcare and the creation of a new anti-discrimination Directive is something which should be legislated upon by the European Union. Member States will always be best placed to set social policy, and this is a position which the Conservative party has consistently defended."@en1
