lpv:spoken text	"I supported this proposal because I believe we need to look at the specific situation of islands and overseas departments. The Commission has investigated and deemed it proportionate. There are no other Member States producing rum and the competition with other alcohols is very limited. The reduction of certain indirect taxes will help producers to deal with higher shipping costs and will allow producers of traditional rum an opportunity to access European markets. After all, that is what the EU is about, free trade and I believe this outcome promotes free trade."@en1
