"The purpose of this own initiative report was to deal with the public policy challenges of plastic waste management currently not addressed by EU waste legislation. When managed correctly plastic waste should be seen as a valuable resource to be reused, recycled and recovered. Proper waste management of plastic products and packages helps promote energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and conserve resources."@en1
