"The Horizon 2020 Programme offers a wonderful opportunity to build on the success of the previous Framework Programme 7, and the increased funding will enable many more people to participate. The inclusion of specific targets for funding towards small and medium-sized enterprises will further unleash the innovation potential within the sector as well as creating new employment growth and economic activity. In Ireland over the last number of years many small start-ups as well as universities have benefitted greatly from these funds and I know that there is a great desire amongst these sectors to fully utilise the new opportunities. I hope that governments will ensure that application processes will not be overly cumbersome, and in particular that special emphasis will be given to attracting young people into science as well as linking those innovators with industry to realise the full potential of their creativity."@en1
