"The European Social Fund is vitally important to Ireland and Europe as the fund promotes employment – mainly by funding initiatives to help people improve their skills and job prospects. Overall the ESF share of the cohesion envelope is 23.1% that corresponds to EUR 71 billion in the 2014-2020 period. The Border, Midland and Western region is expected to draw down at least EUR 335 million in structural funds over the next seven years, of which more than 50% must be designated towards ESF projects."@en1
