"I strongly support and welcome the adoption of the Erasmus+ programme as it will enable over four million students across the EU to train or study abroad. The programme will have a total budget of EUR 14.7 billion, meaning that more students will have an opportunity to undertake study abroad, as well as providing access to cheaper loans for completing a Master’s abroad. For the first time under the Erasmus+ programme sport will also be included, with an emphasis on grassroots sports. The number of Irish students participating in the Erasmus programme has increased considerably over the last number of years, with 2 128 students participating in the programme for the years 2009/2010 compared with over 2 754 students for the years 2011/2012."@en1
