It is estimated that there are 3 600 organised gangs around Europe involved in crime of one sort or another, utilising new technologies, open borders and globalisation to get away with their activities. It is costing the European Union as much as our budget, as well as millions and millions of jobs, and creating misery in many lives. It is time we united against it. In particular, I think we should have a target for 2020 of reducing organised crime and its proceeds by 20 %."@en1
