"Mr President, I voted in favour of this report. The recently-published findings of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) showed that scientists are now 95 % certain that climate change is the result of human activities. Yet we still hear the false arguments of the usual naysayers, willing to disregard scientific evidence in this matter. In November, the annual UN Climate Change Conference will take place in Warsaw, where it is hoped progress will be made towards the global climate deal that is expected to be finalised during the Paris Conference in 2015. However, the EU should not be using any possible delay as an excuse not to act itself. We are currently working on the 2030 framework for climate change, and it is essential that we step up our climate-change ambitions: not only to lower greenhouse gas emissions – important as they are – but also to create jobs from low-carbon technologies."@en1
