"I am sorry that the EPP did not prepare a separate motion for resolution on this issue, which is highly sensitive and controversial in both professional and political terms. It might have been better to have joined with the ECR Group on its motion, which advocates respect for human rights and the rule of law but, at the same time, is free of the extreme, exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims of the left-wing motion for resolution. Unfortunately, as so often in recent years, we see how internal security issues become the tool of left-liberal political campaigns and propaganda. The horrific and tragic attack in Kenya has shaken the world. To prevent such tragic attacks we have to acknowledge that certain aspects of law-enforcement work, by their nature, involve classified information – which cannot be shared with the European Parliament without serious safety risks. There is no country free of the threat of terrorism. Therefore, guaranteeing the security of European citizens is an inalienable, fundamental right, next to the right to privacy."@en1
