The safety of patients must always come first, and this change will protect patients from dodgy doctors who should not be practising medicine in Scotland. These new rules will help ensure that EU doctors and nurses working in the NHS have the right medical qualifications but also the language skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients. The rules on mutual recognition of professional qualifications are also great news for Scots who want to market their skills in other EU countries."@en1
