lpv:translated text	"I agree that the prevention of gender-biased sex selection requires a major commitment by the Commission, Member States, civil society and international agencies, and will have to be regarded as a crime and a severe violation of human rights. Member States should seek to prohibit the practice of sex-selection. There is an urgent need for scientific examination of the root causes, guidelines have to be established for medical staff, supportive measures and education for girls and women have to be put in place, as well as healthcare, education and work access for women without spousal authorisation.
