lpv:spoken text	"I welcome this proposal as it establishes measures and structures for the effective protection of citizens throughout Europe from a wide range of cross-border threats to health. Through this proposal the hope is to ‘extend the Early Warning and Response System to cover all serious cross-border threats to health’. Recent events have shown the lack of responsiveness by the European Union with respect to health crises arising from misuse of medication or the sale of defective medical devices. An effective warning system would certainly have prevented such dramatic events."@en1
