"Labour MEPs voted in favour of today’s resolution in support of the deal achieved last week on the EU’s Multiannual-Financial Framework. We are satisfied that the deal is an acceptable one for UK citizens, with savings being made across the board. This agreement will allow much-needed investment in jobs and growth, research and innovation and structural funding for UK regions. Labour MEPs took the responsible decision to accept this deal – voting against this decision would lead to a delay in releasing EU funds and would, without doubt, have a detrimental effect on the UK. We need to make sure that EU funds are made available as soon as possible to tackle rising unemployment across the EU. For that reason, we are surprised that Conservative MEPs voted against this deal, agreed by David Cameron last week, and believe this decision to be a reckless one which goes against the interests of UK citizens."@en1
