"Abstain. This is an alteration to the Schengen zone period in which extra border controls can be imposed by Member States. Although the UK is not in Schengen, the better protection of borders would stop criminals and illegal migrants entering the UK. If strict border control was to be re-established, I am pretty sure that the level of transnational crime and illegal immigration would drop enormously. I cannot agree with the rapporteur that migration per se is not a threat to public policy and national security – I believe that we have to be fully aware of who is entering our country and for what purpose."@en1
