"This report deals with issues of poverty, tax and social inclusion. However, instead of focusing on these crucial issues, the report is littered with green policy issues, which actually throw the report off balance. While I supported much of this report, I abstained on the overall vote as I believe that this report missed an important opportunity to really discuss EU social housing. Social inequalities are growing, the unemployment rate is soaring, 120 million Europeans are poor or at risk of poverty – this report had sufficient matter to discuss without digressing into ENVI matters. Finally it is important to recognise the added value of Structural Fund monies and European Investment Bank loans in stimulating social housing investment. These funds facilitate the development of further and vocational training and the creation of thousands of local jobs. It must be ensured, in the next MFF, that sufficient funding from these sources is available, that it can be readily accessed and that unspent monies can be more easily reallocated to social housing."@en1
