lpv:spoken text	"I voted in favour of this resolution, which outlines plans to improve upon the current system for scrapping ships by ensuring that their remaining parts are recycled by EU-approved facilities all over the world. Recycling defunct vessels can be a hazardous occupation, with avoidable dangers – accidents, injuries, as well as health and environment issues – a frequent occurrence. This new regulation is a welcome first step in reducing the adverse effects of the inadequate scrapping of EU ships in developing countries, as Members States would be required to ensure that their ships carry an inventory of hazardous materials on board and recycle only at facilities approved by the EU, with penalties imposed on owners who fail to comply."@en1
