"While it is always a tragedy to have a large workforce face redundancy, and a sad indictment of the economic woe in which Europe currently finds itself, it is my belief that the EU has been part architect of the current situation due to its implementation of austerity cuts that have killed consumer confidence and exacerbated the economic crisis. The EU should, therefore, not be in a position to pour our money into its own failings. The EU is an outdated model that is not fit for purpose in a globalised marketplace. National bodies should have full jurisdiction over trade and employment and should be able to forge partnerships with other countries as they see fit in order to manage in times of crisis and provide for their workforce, in both good times and bad."@en1
