"Although I remain completely opposed to tobacco subsidies, in light of the other important agricultural products mentioned in this report (for example livestock, rice, milk and bananas to name but a few) I have decided to vote in favour of it. The report was voted on as a block, there was no option to vote against the paragraphs mentioning tobacco and to vote against the report as a whole could have very damaging consequences. In addition to this justification, I also support the report’s emphasis on regional management; as with all agricultural policy, there can be no one-size-fits-all approach. With current economic and environmental difficulties we must do as much as possible to protect Europe’s farmers, this is why I have voted in favour of the report."@en1
