"I voted in favour of this report – which calls on the Commission to ease the negative impacts of restructuring by ensuring that workers are consulted throughout the process – because it is vitally important that workers’ rights are upheld during these precarious economic times. My own constituency, Wales, has been hit particularly badly by widespread redundancies and factory closures, so I fully support the recommendations in this report. Setting EU-wide minimum standards to guarantee that employees are consulted during the restructuring process would help protect those affected and rectify the current discrepancies between national governments’ different approaches to restructuring."@en1
