When reading it you would be forgiven for thinking that there is no existing legislation governing redundancy and restructuring when, in fact, there is. Redundancy is a very painful and demoralising experience for all concerned but our attentions should be focused on encouraging new job creation and new employment opportunities, rather than wasting our efforts in denying the reality of business today. The report puts forward a series of very worrying recommendations that would do little more that create additional burdens for companies and employers at the very time when they need to move promptly and effectively to restructure, to save jobs and to save businesses."@en1
