lpv:spoken text	"In many countries people are paying the price for years of uncontrolled public spending, spending which politicians pretended to justify by forecasts, but those forecasts were based on unreliable and sometimes even fraudulent statistics. This must not happen again. Statistics need to be accurate and independent at both national and European level. They need to be free from political meddling. I am pleased to have worked with colleagues from this Parliament to make changes to this report. I hope that these will help improve independence, increase transparency and importantly also give the people we represent easier access to data they can understand. This will mean that our taxpayers can better hold their politicians to account."@en1
