"The growth in new technologies has had a positive effect on people’s lives. We are able to communicate with our friends and relatives across the world as well as completing many of our day to day chores on the Internet, which saves time and hassle. I voted in favour of the report on a digital freedom strategy in EU foreign policy because I believe it is essential and fair that these benefits are extended to those living outside Europe. Uncensored access to the Internet, mobile phones and social networks offers the possibility for free speech, something which we in Wales can take for granted but which is exciting and new for others, as we saw in many countries during the Arab Spring."@en1
