lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, the United Nations has called the current global aging trend a situation without parallel in the history of humanity. The world is getting older. In my constituency of Northern Ireland there are more people over the age of 50 than under the age of 19. In the next 20 years the number of people over the age of 50 will increase by more than 30%. An aging demographic like this carries significant consequences for men and women across the EU, not only for work and family life but also for health and social care. Aging and the prevention of age-related diseases are not solely women’s issues but issues for men and women equally and therefore must be addressed as such. Dementia, cancer, cardiovascular disease and a range of other medical issues can affect us all as we get older. It is vital that we have effective policies in place across the EU to improve and enhance the lives of older people and to ensure that adequate health and social care is provided for now and in the future."@en1
