lpv:translated text	"On the occasion of the upcoming elections to the European Parliament, I believe efforts should be made to achieve greater gender balance among Members. There should be a correlation between the composition of the European Parliament and changing roles in our society: Parliament must keep step with the evolution of society and its needs, providing instruments to ensure proper gender representation. The ongoing failure to address the low level of participation of women in political representative bodies must be set right, emphasising the positive contribution to be made by women, because the gender imbalance must be overcome if a true state of democracy is to be achieved. In the hope that this question can be made a priority on the political agenda, in order to respond to the needs of a plural and varied society, I voted in favour."@en1
