In view of small-scale fishing’s structural weaknesses, this sector is more exposed to certain types of external shock and to rapid changes in the availability of resources than the elements of the fleet considered more competitive. As such, consideration should be given to the possibility of creating specific support mechanisms to be implemented in emergencies, such as natural disasters, fishing stoppages imposed by plans for restoring stocks or sudden increases in fuel prices."@en1
