"I voted in favour of the ‘report on the EU’s mutual defence and solidarity clauses: political and operational dimensions’. I support this report which, as well as making a distinction between mutual defence and mutual assistance, indicates that Member States are under an obligation to provide aid and assistance by all the means in their power if a Member State is the victim of armed aggression on its territory. I also support the flexible approach to the triggering of the clause recommended by this report, and call upon the Member States to optimise coordination and prevention in security and defence matters."@en1
